Planned Giving

Ensuring the Future of KMC-LI

“We cannot take our money with us when we die, so it is better that it is used as offerings to create merit rather than for ordinary purposes.  … if we leave money to a Dharma Center there will be great meaning, and the merit will increase for as long as the Center exists. As the Center grows and flourishes, bringing happiness to more and more people, the power of our offering will increase.”

Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche

Great Treasury of Merit (pages 265-266)

“When we are approaching death, we should not worry about leaving our possessions behind, but should be like people who happily go on vacation without worrying about the things they leave at home. While we still have time, we should take the opportunity to accumulate merit by distributing our belongings. We can use our money and possessions to accumulate merit by offering them to spiritual communities and charitable organizations, and by giving to those in need. In this way, we will have no possessions to cling to at the time of death.”

Universal Compassion (page 97)

Please consider joining the community of people who want to ensure KMC Long Island’s future. Planned giving is a powerful tool for supporting our vision – it helps ensure that the study and practice of Kadam Dharma will be offered in Long Island, NY for generations to come.

To include us in your estate plan, simply name Kadampa Meditation Center Long Island (KMC-LI) as a beneficiary:

  • in your will or living trust
  • in your retirement plan or bank account
  • in your life insurance policy

For anyone aged 70 1/2 or older, contributing part or all of a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from an IRA is another beneficial way to help us offer transformative classes, care for our center, and keep our fees affordable.
