Volunteer and Make a Difference

Help Others Find Inner Peace

Kadampa Meditation Center Long Island is run almost entirely by volunteers. Volunteering is a great way to share your talents and interests, get to know members of the center, make new friends, and have fun helping others find inner peace. It doesn’t matter how small the task seems, each contribution is meaningful and appreciated.

“Thank you for your interest in helping to spread Buddha’s teachings throughout the New York area. If we think clearly we shall realize that all our present and future happiness depends upon our cherishing others.”

– Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche

Our mission is to provide the people of Long Island with access to meditation, Buddhist teachings and other tools to cultivate peaceful, and happy lives. All of the Kadampa Meditation Centers around the world are non-profit, volunteer organizations that function to help the people of the local area spiritually.

If you wish to help in any way in our Huntington, Massapequa, Port Jefferson, or St. James locations, please fill out the form below. Thank you.

How much time will it take?

It can take as little or as much time as you have. Each and every hour of volunteering counts. Come and speak with us about your schedule and availability.

What kinds of volunteer opportunities are there?

Our volunteer needs range from distribution of flyers, helping in our bookstore, food coordination at events, cleaning, administration, fixing things to other specific skills such as graphic design, web updates, sound recording and photography. To find out more about the different opportunities, please contact us.

How do I get started?

If you are interested in becoming a KMC-LI volunteer you can send an email to our volunteer coordinator Nelly at volunteer@kmcli.org or stop by the center and speak to one of our other volunteers.
