9/11 Remembrance Meditation

September 11, 2021 @ 8:30 am - 9:30 pm

20th Anniversary of 9/11 in Heckscher Park
Saturday, Sept. 11, 2021
8:30-9:30am Chapin Rainbow Stage

Compassion, Meditation and Remembrance
with Kadam Holly McGregor, Resident Teacher at Kadampa Meditation Center Long Island

Memories and effects of 9/11 still remain for many in our community. Join us for a morning of remembrance, prayer and meditation from 8:30-9:30am on Saturday, September 11, in front of the Chapin Rainbow Stage in the Town of Huntington’s Heckscher Park. This free outdoor meditation will be led by Kadam Holly McGregor, who has been the Resident Teacher of Kadampa Meditation Center Long Island (KMC-LI) for the past 13 years.

Kadam Holly will lead a special, powerful practice called “Taking and Giving,” that gives us a way to transform painful feelings and difficult situations, and enables us to be a positive force within our family and our community. In this way we will honor the many people of good heart who gave so much to save and help others on that day.

KMC-LI opened its doors for the very first time on Sept. 11, 2001 to provide a place of refuge for the people of Long Island. Twenty years later, this local meditation center close to Heckscher Park continues to be a place of refuge and a beacon of light in our community.
