There’s no question that there is a great need for heroes and heroines in our world today. All of us really want to help, but we’re not always sure how. And when we do help, sometimes we wonder if our actions are actually beneficial. How do we put our compassion into skillful action? We need inspiration and guidance from those who have already fully developed their compassion and wisdom!
Tara is a female enlightened being whose name means “Liberator.” Since she is a wisdom Buddha, and since she is a manifestation of the completely purified wind element, Tara is able to help very quickly.
This morning we’ll learn a little bit about this special enlightened being and we’ll have an opportunity to engage in the beautiful chanted prayer practice of Buddha Tara, called Liberation from Sorrow.
Pujas (chanted prayers) are an important element of our spiritual training. Practiced sincerely, they quiet our mind and help us to connect with enlightened beings, enabling us to experience their inspiration and insight. We have a regular schedule of chanted prayers, including monthly prayers for people who have recently died (see below). Everyone is welcome to attend these pujas free of charge.
Tara – the 8th of every month (usually 6pm – check calendar)
Medicine Buddha – Tuesdays at 5:30pm
Vajrasattva – Wednesdays at 10:45am
Powa Ceremony for those who have died – first Sunday of the month in Huntington at 2pm
No pre-registration required. Everyone welcome!
