Letting Go: An Exploration of Impermanence

One of the hardest things to learn in life, and yet one of the most beneficial, is "letting go". When we can embrace this skill with wisdom, we're opening a door to a happier life.

What does letting go actually mean? It doesn't necessarily mean we give away all our possessions, or end all our relationships. It does not mean that we stop all activities that bring us either pleasure or pain. We learn from Buddha that it’s not necessarily the people, places and things we need to let go of, but our distorted views of those things, our attachment to them, and our grasping too tightly onto them, that will inevitably cause us pain.

Buddha's teachings on impermanence help us understand the things we're holding onto are fluid and transient in nature, and through that understanding, we can begin living more lightly, letting go into an experience of true freedom.
