THANK YOU FOR VISITING US!
Kadampa Meditation Center Long Island (KMC-LI) is a peaceful place of refuge and spiritual encouragement in the heart of Huntington with branches in Massapequa, Oakdale, and Port Jefferson. Inspired by the books and teachings of modern-day Kadampa Buddhist master, Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, we present meditation and the teachings of Buddha in an accessible manner that can easily be understood and integrated into our modern lives. The center is run by volunteers and together we have created a friendly, compassionate and engaged community.
CLASSES FOR NEWCOMERS
Our general program classes are open to all. They begin with a guided meditation, followed by some practical wisdom from Buddha’s teachings to help us with the challenges of daily life. Questions are welcomed, and the class concludes with another guided meditation, helping us to take to heart any insight, inspiration, or advice we wish to apply.
Sunday is family day at KMC-LI. We offer our main general program class and meditation on Sundays from 11:30am-1pm in the main meditation room, while classes for children and teens are taught at the same time in two smaller meditation rooms. We offer a weeknight general program class on Tuesday evenings from 7pm-8:30pm. We offer basic guided meditations on Sunday mornings at 10am, and Monday and Wednesday evenings at 7pm. Many of our Saturday morning workshops are presented with newcomers in mind, and beginners are always welcome to attend our lunchtime classes and meditations (12noon) Monday through Thursday. Soup & Serenity is held on Wednesdays 12 -1:30pm and includes meditation, a brief teaching, and homemade vegetarian soup.
THREE LEVELS OF ENGAGEMENT
KMC-LI offers three different levels of programs created by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso: the General Program (GP) which is open to everyone, the Foundation Program (FP) for those who wish to gain deeper understanding and meditative experience of Buddha’s teachings, and the Teacher Training Program (TTP), the most in-depth and comprehensive program for those who wish to become qualified Buddhist meditation teachers.

SHARE YOUR TALENTS!
Join Our Community of Volunteers
KMC-LI is run by volunteers. Volunteering is a great way to share your talents or interests, meet new people, and help the center flourish. It doesn’t matter how small the task may seem, each contribution of time is immensely meaningful and helps others to find peace in this busy, noisy world. Send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org if you’re interested in volunteering!
If you find benefit from the teachings and the community at KMC Long Island, please consider joining us as a supporting member. KMC-LI and the programs it offers are made possible through the support of its members. As an entirely locally-supported non-profit organization, we depend on supporting memberships and donations to be able to maintain our peaceful meditation spaces and offer so many classes, workshops and retreats. Membership is tax deductible. If you attend the center and/or branch classes regularly, your membership will represent a savings over pay-as-you-go.
WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU SOON!
